One of the most important aspects of Strong Like Tom is ensuring that every dollar raised helps advance critical cancer research. Dr. Dana Rathkopf, the Memorial Sloan Kettering physician who treated Tom, was unable to attend this year's event but shared a letter with participants. Her words captured the impact that our community is making: "With the support of Strong Like Tom, we have been able to advance innovative research for men with high-risk prostate cancer. I'm especially excited to share that we have completed enrollment in an investigator-initiated clinical trial testing a promising new treatment. The support from Strong Like Tom allows us to perform additional studies on the tumor tissue collected during surgery, studies that help us understand why treatment works for some patients but not others. Importantly, this additional research might not otherwise be possible, because there's often not enough funding to support these kinds of studies.
